Let your students be engineers for a day by playing our interactive learning game, Engineering Challenge.
Our interactive learning game about oil and gas, technology and innovation is offered for 8th – 13th grade, and is relevant for the curriculum for both science subjects, social sciences and for preparing the students for their choice of education and occupation. All school visits to Engineerium are free of charge and can be conducted in Norwegian or English. You can find suggested learning materiels to use in the classroom before or after your visit on our page of teaching resources.
How it works
The students are introduced to a newly discovered oil field and divided into engineering teams where they get different roles and responsibilities. During the course of the game, the team is guided by a virtual project leader. The students collect information about technology, oil and gas, and as a team they are challenged to find innovative solutions for the development of the oil field. In the end, each group presents their plans for development, receives an assessment from the customer and a vote decides who wins the contract.
Engineering Challenge lasts for 2.5 hours and can be played in Norwegian and English. The class is guided by an educator from Engineerium, but we ask the teacher to be present during the entire visit. Book through our booking calendar, at least two weeks in advance. Please get in touch through phone or e-mail if you can’t find a time that suits your schedule, we will do our best to accomodate you!
